An new outfit spawned from the ashes of various Merseyside bands, Pure Joy have found the right formula in new video 'Girl'. Taken from their debut LP Bang Flower out on 1st April, the four piece blend together great washes of guitars and synths for a slow hypnotic effect. The video itself is just as understatedly trippy with kaleidoscoping projections adding to the mildly psychedelic sound. As the name suggests, there is something quite upbeat about the band, despite the introspection of 'Girl'. Reminding us of everyone from Tame Impala to The Beatles, Pure Joy are an perfect mix of retro sounds and new sonic experiments. - SJ
